Politically Exposed Persons (PEP)

The PEP dataset identifies politically exposed persons and related associates who may present elevated corruption and bribery risk.

A politically exposed person, or PEP, is an individual who holds or has held a prominent public function and may therefore present a higher bribery, corruption, or illicit finance risk. PEP screening is a common part of anti-money laundering and customer due diligence programs.

This dataset is designed to help organizations identify current and former public officials, as well as close associates and family members where relevant. It is not a sanctions list, but it is an important risk dataset for enhanced due diligence and ongoing monitoring.

  • Heads of state and senior government officials
  • Legislators, judges, military leaders, and regulators
  • Executives of state-owned enterprises and related associates

PEP data is commonly used during onboarding, periodic review, and event-driven monitoring to support a broader risk-based compliance framework.
